3 Cool Electric Vehicles You May Have Never Heard Of

If you are like most people who have heard bits and pieces about electric vehicles you may be wondering where are they? Here are 3 electric vehicles that you may have never heard of, but soon will. Starting in 2010 these electric vehicles will be hitting the roads in full force. These cars will have a big impact because they can be used to commute to and from work. Most electric vehicles in the past have been slower and had a short battery life. These 3 companies are looking toward the future and are not one of the well known companies:

Think: Think City could be coming soon to a dealership near you. If you like the idea of an electric car that can go highway speeds, than this may be the one for you. It is highway safe, and all electric. It is currently available in Norway but will soon be available in other parts of the world. It costs around $30,000.

Aptera: The Aptera, a small alien looking three wheeled car, should be available soon. There are two versions of the car, all electric and hybrid. It has flip doors and is extremely aero dynamic. It goes 0-60 in ten seconds and can go at highway speeds. The electric version can go up to 120 miles on a single charge and is going into production at the end of this year. The hybrid should get an average of 300 mpg, but will not be available until 2010. The hybrid will cost around $30,000 and the electric will be about $27,000.

Tesla-The reality of electric cars is quickly approaching. Tesla Motors makes the Tesla roadster. The price is about 98,000. It is run by a lithium ion battery. It can drive approximately 220 miles before having to be recharged. The battery life is 100,000 miles. Tesla recently came out with their second generation car. The $50,000 sedan is one step closer to a mass produced electric highway speed vehicle.

Keep an eye out for these companies. If the big car companies aren't careful, these small ones could turn the market upside down.
