An Initiative for Clean Energy & Sustainability

An initiative for clean energy & sustainability for governments is a top priority in today's world. One government that has recently become serious about their clean energy initiative is the State government of Hawaii.

The Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative's goal is to preserve the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands for next generations, who will also be able to enjoy it. The Hawaiian initiative's challenge is to discover and utilize sustainable solutions to their energy needs, which is a shared challenge by most governments at all levels.

Hawaii is devising a new direction toward a self-sustained energy future, and their efforts in this matter have many governments closely observing their efforts. Imported oil makes up 90% of Hawaii's energy needs, at this level of dependency on oil would place any country or government's economic security in jeopardy.

The main trend of civilizations around the world in the last 100 years has been the way energy needs have been or are being met, without a regard for sustainability. Governments of the world need to change this tendency, the main obstacles for Hawaii and the rest of the world will be the transition to new renewable forms of energy.

The Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative's targeted goal is to satisfy up to 70% of their energy needs within 20 years. This objective will focus on being more energy efficient and to introduce new renewable forms of energy.

The initiative set in motion by Hawaii focuses on conserving and converting energy. By promoting the conservation of energy that is currently being used by people and government agencies. Also lowering excess energy usage to only necessary tasks, and establishing more energy efficient building codes for new and existing buildings.

Along with the conversion to renewable energy that is locally produced. To cease in the construction of new fossil fuel power plants, and begin to harness energy from solar and wind farms, biomass and geothermal resources. Have law makers create incentives for electric and hybrid vehicles, and modernize the current aging power-grid network.

Hawaii's Clean Energy Initiative has set a module framework and plan of action for any government to follow. But governments can't go through this energy transition alone, the need to collaborate with community groups and leaders, public and private organizations are paramount to meet the initiatives objective goals and to successfully make the transition from conventional hydrocarbon fuels to renewable energy alternatives sources.

The key to success for any government's effort to go green is to create an economic opportunity for renewable sources of energy at all levels of society, so that all peoples will ultimately benefit. New jobs and skills will be need to be created and promoted, and the Hawaii state government seems to be considering all of these things.

A lot of eyes around the world are on the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative, and this government and people's efforts to overcome obstacles in their transition to renewable forms of energy and free themselves from oil dependency will be noted. Hawaii's success will be a ring clear around the world, as it will make other governments optimistic in their own efforts to make that all important and inevitable transition to sustainable, clean energy.
