Biofuel Incentives
The 2005 Energy policy set forth many incentives on all sorts of alternative renewable energy sources.
With regard to biofuel and biodiesel the government gave some tax incentives to producers and
distributors. Small producers of biodiesel and ethanol get a ten cent per gallon tax credit, up to 15 million gallons.
The tax incentives last until the end of 2008. Fuelling stations are eligible to receive a 30 percent
incentive against the cost of installing clean fuel vehicle refueling equipment. This will last through the end of 2010.
The Canadian government is planning to spend 1.5 billion in biofuel production incentives over nine years.
Ethanol(biofuel) producers can get a ten cents per liter credit for the first three years.
Biodiesel producers can get up to 20 cents per liter.
