Black & Decker 18" Electric Mulching Cordless Lawn Mower

If you are in the market for a new lawn mower, than look into this Black & Decker. It has a 24V sealed lead acid batter. The mower weights 76 pounds and can cover about 1/3 of an acre. It is an Energystar product and costs roughly $370.

This mower is a good quiet mower. It is ideal for people with smaller yards. It mulches very well, and it is cordless. The start up mechanism is easy and quick. If you are interested in not wasting gas, then this could be great for the eco conscious consumer. Being an Energystar product means you won't pay a lot of money to recharge it, therefore the expense of upkeep is a lot less.

There are some inherent drawbacks to an electric mower. While to convenience of having it cordless is nice, the fact is it takes 10 hours to fully recharge. With a gas mower you fill it up and go. This is not a self propelled mower, if you have a hilly yard, or cannot physically do it, please don't.

The $370 price tag is reasonable, and will save you some money long term due to very little upkeep cost. As gas prices go up and battery technology gets better. Gas mowers may be a thing of the past.
