Canada- First Non Oil Dependent County

The province of Ontario has announced that they would like to become completely free of oil. Further they would like Canada to be the first non oil dependent county in the world. It is with their lead that other countries will follow. They plan on doing so with a lot of ingenuity and a whole lot of investment.

The biggest component of the plan that was announced was made by Shai Agassi. Recently he has been a major voice for electric cars. His dream has been to build in the current world recession. He called the new electric car industry as car 2.0. In order for this dream of his to succeed the Ontario government will need to invest billions in infrastructure projects, and more than that set up charging spots as well as battery exchanges. With all these things in place, it could make Canada a prime place for electric cars to run.

Agassi, Ontario and Bullfrog Power will be working together to create this infrastructure. Oil and electric companies are not switching their focus away from dirty fossil fuel and looking at themselves are large energy providers. As this focus turns more towards clean energy, this may provide for infrastructure of clean cars not only all over Ontario, but all of North America as well.
