Compact Fluorescent (DC)

If you use Compact Fluorescent (DC) bulbs in your home or office, you can save a lot of money as they produce very high illumination by consuming less amount of energy. They are available in 6V, 12V and 24V and can be used in solar powered systems or in any DC set up.

The life of these lamps is more than 8000 hours and that of an incandescent lamp is less than 1000 hours. Thus, you will be able to save a lot of money from your energy bill every month by using a CFL DC lamp.

According the statistics released by the US department of energy, an incandescent lamp produces light output of 12 to 15 lumens per watt of power and a CFL lamp produces around 50 lumens per watt. There is an electronic circuit, which guarantees a very number of switching cycles. The cool white CFL lamps have a bright blue white glow, while glow of warm white lamps is similar to that of incandescent lamps. The lamps are becoming increasingly popular because of their lumen efficiencies.

For an 11-15 volt, 5 watt power lamp, the light intensity is greater than 240 lumens and for a 11-15 volts 11 watt nominal power CFL lamp, the output is greater than 620 lumens.

With a polarity protection, the lamps need preheating before lamination. Their high electronic efficiency ensures 80% savings in energy in the long run. It ensures low temperature and a low voltage to start.

The requirement of light is different in the rooms of your house. Thus it is wiser to choose the wattage according to the need of light in a particular room. The bulbs can be installed in standard E27 or Edision socket.

Another major advantage of these lamps is that they have got an over temperature protection (OTP), which helps the lamps to switch off automatically before they become overheated. It protects the lamp from getting damaged from overheating. This helps a lot in increasing the life span of the product to a great extent.

There are many manufacturers who manufacture this product. Some of them are Philips, Phocos, AB Lamps etc. The prices of these bulbs vary according to the voltage and wattage you need for your room. The price also varies according to the brand label of the manufacturer. The price of these lamps varies generally from $11 to $30 and you can order them from the website.
