By 2015, the
combustion engine should be a thing of the past. Pack the old engines up and sell them to your local history museums. The
electric engine is here to stay.
The most annoying part of driving anywhere is usually the other drivers on the road. Depending where you live the weather can throw you for a loop as well. However, one very big and expensive headache is paying for gasoline. This year at the 2009
International Auto Show featured many electric cars. To all the auto companies it is really a kind of electric car race.
Electric cars at the moment are expected to get around 40 miles per charge. This definitely does not seem like a lot. If you look at this number objectively, we find that the majority of people, who commute to work, do not travel 40 miles within the day. Imagine not having to fill up your car ever with gasoline.
The first run of these cars are expected to be rolled out around the end of 2009 and fully in 2010. Expect to pay around 40K when they first come out. There will be a wide array of electric cars to choose from. The most notable is of course the
Chevy Volt, but there will be many others.
The electric car race will really come into play in 2011 and 2012. The winner will be the company that is able to mass produce an
electric vehicle that gets over 250 miles per charge. The way we drive is quickly changing. It will change for the betterment of our pocketbooks.
