Five Reasons Why Metal Garage Buildings Are Your Eco-Friendly Choice

Every day you hear someone telling you to be more eco-friendly. For some, it gets to a point of "Why? What's in it for me?" This WIIFM formula is very prevalent in today's busy world.

I'll explain why a metal building kit is the eco-friendly choice for a garage building AND what's in it for you (and me!).

1. First off metal construction components are fabricated from largely recycled metals. This means that the materials costs are reduced. Recycled product is good for the environment and you get a lower cost.

2. Secondly metal building kits have been designed in an "economized" way. This means that the buildings are engineered to handle all of the required loadings that you demand but they have all of the excess steel weight removed. No excess means that the resource pool is not depleted as quickly - good for the environment. No excess weight means that you will not be paying extra for materials that you do not require. Metal buildings are sold by weight. Less weight means less cost.

3. Next, metal garage building kits are designed so that there is a minimum amount of on-site fabrication. On-site fabrication usually means waste. No landfill costs here. Even if there are some materials that need to be trimmed or cut out to suit your particular needs, the materials are again recyclable. Again, good news for the environment and for the pocket book.

4. Metal building kits are not prone to some of the maintenance problems of a wood structure. You will not have to replace rotting fascia boards or warped, twisted or cracked framing. These problems mean more lumber and wood products are required for the repairs and the removed lumber could end up in landfills. That's a double whammy for the environment and for your wallet. As a bonus, you will not need to waste your valuable time (or money if you contract out ) to effect the repairs.

5. If your metal shop or garage outlives its usefulness it can be moved to a new site or again be entirely recycled. Now that's great for the environment. What would it cost you to tear down a wooden structure and dispose of the materials?

As you can see, it does not have to cost you more to be eco-friendly. In fact it can be more economical to utilize environmentally friendly ingenuity to construct your new garage.

If we all take a lesson from this and use it in our every day lives, the little bit of reduction and re-use can compound and multiply to provide us with a much better world in which to live… affordably.
