Fridge Thermometer

Everyone uses refrigerators to keep food fresh for long. But just placing food items in the fridge is not adequate in itself; it needs to be set at a correct temperature too. Fridge thermometers help adjust the temperature of your refrigerators accurately.

In order to preserve food, it must be frozen below 18 degrees Celsius or chilled at 5 degrees Celsius. If these temperatures are not maintained, the food may go bad. Warmer temperatures lead to potential growth of bacteria and may result in food poisoning. This is where the fridge thermometer can come to one's aid.

Again, if the temperatures are set to higher levels than required, it results in undue wastage of electricity. The fridge thermometer helps set the temperature precisely. Not only that, it also helps lower the carbon emissions. A temperature of 22 degrees as opposed to 18 degrees produces about 138 kg of CO2 emissions yearly.

It might also be the case that some food products need specific temperature settings. The knobs in the refrigerator only help lower or raise the temperature. They don't let one ascertain the precise temperature. Also, different seasons need different settings to maintain the longevity of food. A fridge thermometer helps tackle all these problems.

Fridge thermometers are many kinds: liquid filled ones, digital and the bimetallic ones are the prominent ones. The liquid filled thermometers encase a colored liquid, which expands as the temperature rises. The bimetallic ones have a coil that is made from two metals and bonded together. The element is then attached to a pointer, which indicates the temperature.

Digital fridge thermometers are also available. The temperature can be ascertained to the minutest detail using these. Separate thermometers can be used for the freezer and fridge sections. A single thermometer, which indicates both the temperatures, is also available. These may also have inherent alarms that beep when the temperature exceeds or falls below preset levels. Thus, one can very conveniently keep the temperatures in check.

Fridge thermometers can prove to be useful during a power failure. These can be mounted either indoors or outdoors. While using indoors, the thermometer needs to be placed in between food items. But care must be taken not to place them in for long, as the display may freeze in case of digital thermometers.

Fresh food for longer durations, coupled with lower carbon emissions and reduced electricity bills, make the fridge thermometer a great buy for every household.
