We have long been impressed with Google. They not only have a great search engine, they have many other fun websites that they manage. If this were the only thing that they put their expertise into, it would be sufficient. However, there is another leg called Google.org. If you have not heard of it, than you are missing out.
This is the org part that does a lot of research. Much of the research is on alternative energy, cars and other related fields. They happen to own solar, geothermal and other clean energy companies. Here comes a great innovation in helping track your energy usage.
Google PowerMeter tracks the energy usage of all the appliances in your home and sends it in the form of a graph to you igoogle account. This device is not yet available, but should be widespread within a couple of years. PowerMeter will help you change around poor energy choices. It will allow you to determine the best times to do laundry or just keep up on how your electricity usage.
Google Org continues to do some amazing things. We will try to keep up, but rest assured they will amaze us more in the near future.
