Green Batteries That Just Keep Going and Going

The word of the day is Green. For the purposes of this article, we aren't talking about the color but the concept. Green living entails living in such a way that you don't harm the environment, or at least living in such a way that the harm you do cause is minimal (assuming that you just can't help yourself).

Green living isn't just a new fad, but a growing way of life and companies are finally starting to understand that fact to the point where they're revamping their products to fit the newest status quo. How successful they are at doing so is debatable, but at least they're giving it a try. Right now the need that green people (again, think concept not color) seem to have that manufacturers are trying to compensate for, is the need for batteries that not only help the environment, but are also long lasting.

First let's talk about Smartphones that allow for wireless charging. Instead of filling valuable landmine space with billions and billions of batteries, chargers, and connecting cords, there is now an invention that does twice as much as any of those things can do combined. MWG has announced that they'll be released a new charging device that is designed to charge and mobile device that you have. By simply placing your Smartphone in the vicinity of the device, it can charge up.

The way it works is that the MWG made device produces an electromagnetic field. The polarity in the field alters regularly, and by way of copper wires inserted in the device that charges and the Smartphone itself, the E.M field is converted back into electricity once the pulse from the charger is received by the Smartphone. The set-up is not only cool, it's also eco-friendly since it doesn't require batteries, chargers, or cables (all of which produce chemicals that harm the environment once they start to degrade…assuming that they ever do).

Another green battery comes from Voltaic. Voltaic's bags are solar powered batteries that are compact and powerful enough to run your laptop or handheld. The bags are even made from recycled drink bottles. If all of that combined doesn't just scream green living I don't know what does.

Then there's the invention of Green Plug. This gadget was made so that it could make it possible for power sources and electric devices to communicate between one another. The invention reduces energy usage by more than a half and allows for longer run time of the electric devices. Green Plug was introduced by an industry (which goes by the same name) that came up with a way that allows a green plug enabled adapter to power any device no matter what that device is and no matter how much voltage it requires. The idea was to cut down on the need for multiple incompatible power adapters and batteries, and Green Plug succeeded in the endeavor. I'm not sure about all of you, but personally I have a drawer in my house dedicated to mystery power cords and adapters so Green Plug seems like a worthy green invention.

If you don't happen to feel the same way, that's alright. There are plenty of other green batteries and power sources out on the market now that you can appreciate. Whether you decide to buy them or not is up to you, but since they're affordable, green, and last longer than what you have powering your computer now, what's the point of letting everyone else have all the fun?
