Guide to Alternative Energy Organizations

Are you a green energy enthusiast? Would you like a way to connect and collaborate with other like-minded individuals? Consider joining one of the many alternative energy organizations in working toward a better world. There are groups operating worldwide to educate the public about cleaner energy choices and to promote the research and development of these energies. A simple Internet search will yield links to hundreds of such organizations, at least one of which is sure to be right for you.

One of these, the New Energy Congress, is a professional organization with the goal of evaluating green energy research. If a project is found to have merit, the NEC will help procure financing to ensure that the work can continue. To become a member, you must have experience and a reputation in a green energy field. Members must be service-oriented and willing to pursue the greater good instead of individual goals. They must also make a service commitment in order to be accepted.

Another great group, the Global Institute for New Energy Technologies, is a non-profit organization devoted to the development of exotic alternative energy sources. GIFNET currently has projects open in zero point energy sources, high-efficiency generators, decentralized power supplies, and cold fusion. They also take a great interest in propellant-less and field propulsion systems. Membership to GIFNET is free but donations are welcomed.

The American Solar Energy Society is a non-profit, membership-based association that has set out to educate and promote solar power. They have 40 chapters operating across the United States and offer many programs geared toward educating the public about switching to solar energy systems. The group has a professional membership for $89 per year or several tiers of standard membership ranging from regular at $39 annually to lifetime membership for $1200. Each membership includes a subscription to Solar Today magazine.

Is wind energy more to your liking? The American Wind Energy Association may be right for you. This group provides a plethora of information on its website and also hosts workshops across the country for those who would like to either implement wind power or simply learn more about it.

The New Energy Movement states a purpose of "Clean, safe, abundant, inexpensive energy for all… stabilized climate… clean and healthy water, food, and air for all… beautiful blue skies over our cities… low-impact, sustainable forestry and agriculture… beautiful landscapes unspoiled by wires and smokestacks… recycling of virtually all wastes… rivers running free and natural… thriving sustainable local economies… The group's website has a variety of informative articles and useful links and promises to offer alternative conferences in the near future.

So if you want to become more involved in making your dreams for green energy a reality, consider joining an organization. Not only will you be able to actively work toward your ideal world, but you will also meet others who share your vision.
