Chevy Volt

The car is a concept vehicle and a plug in hybrid vehicle. The car will run the first forty miles of its trip powered by onboard 16 - kWh lithium - ion batteries which can be charged from an electrical power outlet which gives power of 120 - 240 volt AC. The Chevrolet Volt can be charged from either a standard 120 volt outlet or a 240 volt outlet for charging. The Volt has an intelligent battery design which enables it to be fully charged in less than three hours if charged from the 240 volt outlet, and in about eight hours from a 120 volt outlet. Around 22 lithium - ion cells power the Volts electric unit with 150 horsepower and 273 lb - ft of instant torque. The car has no engine noise due it being electrical and with special sound reducing technologies; it is a very quiet car to drive. >More

Are you looking forward to hopping in your can and NEVER having to fill up for gas again? You may have to wait a couple years, but only a couple. By 2010 you may have your choice of electric vehicles to choose from. Of them, the California made Miles XS500. The Miles Company is working on mass producing these cars. They will go 80 plus miles per hour, have a range of 120 miles, and plug in to a 220 V socket. It takes a full night to recharge the battery. Have you ever wanted to get 1000 miles per gallon? No, it is not a typo, it may become a reality, and soon. The Aptera a small alien looking three wheeled car should be available soon. There are two versions of the car, all electric and hybrid. It has flip doors and is extremely aero dynamic. It goes 0-60 in ten seconds and can go at highway speeds. The electric can go up to 120 on a charge and is going into production at the end of this year. The hybrid should get an average of 300 mpg, but will not be available till 2010.
