Eco20/20: Non Renewable Energy

Non Renewable Energy

Non renewable energy is an important part of our daily lives. There are many states within the U.S. that get more than 80% of their electricity for coal. Nonrenewable energy is finite, which means there is a limited amount. Some of these sources include, oil, nuclear, coal, and others. Some methods of producing electricity and energy is cleaner than others. Understanding all aspects of clean energy is crucial to breaking our dependence.

These energy producing forms will should be explored for a variety of reasons. For starters, coal is abundantly found and can be harvested cheaply for the electricity that many rely on. Therefore, if it can be harvested and burned in a clean responsible way, it needs to be considered. Nuclear energy is an interesting element of energy grids since it is primarily a clean source of energy. France has some of the cleanest air many industrialized nations because of the abundant use of nuclear.

Of course when discussing nonrenewable energy there are positives and many negatives. All sides need to look at all variations and suggestions to provide a viable and clean solution for our future.
