Remember...An Eco-Friendly Electronic is like Captain Planet on Batteries

With all the hype about the world coming to an end in 2012, tree huggers and environmentalists (two completely different creatures) have been joined in their fight to save the planet by governments, media personalities, and just your average Joe. Nobody knows how the world will end yet, but if it planned on going out because of non-green living…well we've nipped that horse in the proverbial bud. Because of our forethought, we've managed to come up with some pretty interesting energy saving devices in the last decade. Many of these gadgets have taken the ideas behind solar, water, air, and electric energy and have simply upgraded on them.

Obviously alternative fuel and power sources for running gas powered technology is the most well known as well as the most advanced currently. Scientists have improved on the fuel source of everything from cars, to lawn mowers, to space ships. There have been some truly impressive advancements as far as vehicles go. Electric run cars are the most widely talked about right now. These cars run cleanly but they're also extremely expensive. Then there are hydrogen powered cars. Their introduction into society is happening slowly but surely and they should give EVs a run for their money. Now that we mention electric cars, we can't forget the hybrids. Hybrids run on a combination of electricity and gas, and while still harmful to the environment they are a lot healthier for the atmosphere than your everyday gas guzzling behemoth.

Currently hybrids are the 'greenest' and most fuel efficient cars on the roads. Along with your regular hybrids you have your plug in hybrids. These cars are like hybrid cars except that they can be plugged into the electric grid. Then of course, there are stop-start cars. These are sort of like mini-hybrids in that although they run on gas like other cars, they stop burning gas once the car comes to a stop. It may not seem like a significant alteration but all of those red lights and drive through add up. Cars that use stop-start are reported to have an improved fuel efficiency of almost 10%. There are also cars out on the market that while not hybrids of any type, still manage to go green. Not only are manufactures creating diesel run vehicles (lower emissions and very efficient), they are also putting cars that run on E85 Ethanol out on the market. E85 Ethanol run cars are cars that were made to run on only 85% ethanol.

For people who are uninterested in the efficiency and environmental friendliness of a car, a number of other inventions should manage to catch your eye. Like United Pepper webcams and USB hubs (which are well known for being biodegradable computer parts). While United Pepper is becoming the name brand for non-plastic computer gizmos, Fashionation is just as popular for their production of recycled speakers (which can be folded from 3d to 2d). Meanwhile, ipod lovers will adore the Trevor Baylis Eco Media Player. What this green gadget lacks in elegance and size, it makes up for in quality, adaptability, and functionality (which means that this particular toy will last much longer power wise than any ipod they have on the shelves).

Keep in mind that these are all just a few of the newest toys and gizmos that the going green revolution has brought into being. Be sure to keep an eye out for the latest and greatest that are set to appear in 2010 and 2011. So just hesitate before going out to buy yet another non-eco friendly electronic.
