Robots in Industry

Robotic technology is nothing new. Robots have been in use since 1961 and are slowly replacing humans in industrial work. Of course this has led to a great debate over the years. Change happens whether we like it or not.

Robots have been integrated into many industries and will continue to do so as company leaders seek to increase production and reduce costs. Robots simply do the tasks easily and cost less.

Robots in the car industry

Most people are aware of the use of robots in the car industry. They mass produce vehicles at a rate which is not humanly possible. The robots can perform the tasks repeatedly without tiring or risk of injury. They can also handle materials safely that people cannot such as hot metal from die casts. One robot can replace 20 human workers. This means less money spent on payroll and benefits. Because robots do not tire, companies can operate 24 hours a day if desired. By using only 1 robot the plant saves millions of dollars over a span of a few short years.

Robots in the medical field

Various medical fields also incorporate robotics. Doctors can now explore certain conditions better with the use of robots. A variety of surgeries can now be done with smaller incisions and quicker recovery times. Diseases and illnesses that would have gone undetected and untreated only a few decades ago are now being treated by the use of robotic technology. Many laparoscopic surgeries use robots to perform the surgery with a much smaller incision than a doctor could. Pacemakers are another example of robotics in healthcare. This device helps regulate a person's pulse. Some countries are even considering the use of autonomous robots to care for patients due to a lack of caregivers available.

Packaging is faster with the use of robots

Many food packaging plants use robots to produce products quickly. The packaging itself is usually made using some sort of robotic technology. This technology also fills the packaging and seals the product. Just think how long it would take to make, fill, and package a case of soda if done by human hands. Nearly all of packaged foods use some sort of robotics to produce the massive quantities needed on a daily basis. There are a few companies that still do things by hand, but they are the last of a dying breed.

Robots are more reliable

Whether you agree with robotic technology replacing humans in industry or not, this form of technology is here to stay. Robots do not get bored, hurt, or quit. People rely on robotics every day for so many uses. Many do not realize just how much of this country is run by robots. You can see the proof from the grocery store to hospitals to the parking lot if you will just look. Robots touch just about every aspect of the comforts a person enjoys daily. Solar panels, lithium batteries, hybrid cars are a few examples of robots. Household chores are now easier thanks to robotic technology. As new technology emerges, the use of robots will increase throughout every industry not decrease because robots are cheaper and more profitable to a company.
