Concerened- DIY KYOTO

I find it kind of strange that you can’t buy one in the US. Do power companies really want people to save on energy? After all the only difference between UK and US is the 50 to 60 Hz conversion. You would think that a small switch on the unit, like the switch on the back of computer power supplies could be added fairly easily. Why else would DIY KYOTO 4 years after introduction of this great product not have a 60HZ version? Could the US power company lobby have something to do with this?
